We were lucky enough to find Erinisle when we were searching for our next family member. We had never had a Wheaten before. Initially, we thought the process that Erinisle required (questionnaire, wanting to select the puppy for our home, etc.) a bit surprising given our past experience with other breeders. Throughout the process, we realized the reasons behind everything that they do.
Esther and Darcy truly love these dogs and are committed to ensure that their puppies go to well suited homes.
To start, Erinisle is a home, not a kennel. Esther and Darcy’s adult dogs live in their home with them, along with the puppies. Their home is immaculately kept and each puppy is loved as if Esther and Darcy are keeping all of them. The initial “pen” is in one of their bedrooms, with blankets and linens (not newspaper) changed many times throughout the day, as the pictures/videos show (I don’t know how Esther did it). The puppies are later moved down to a larger penned in area in their kitchen where they are able to experience regular household life such as people coming and going, cooking, vacuuming, lots of love, etc.
After agreeing to consider us as adoptive parents, we received almost daily e-mails with pictures of the puppies as they grew as well as YouTube video of their development. We were able to experience the puppies opening their eyes, taking their first steps and playing with their brothers and sisters. This process allowed us to know our puppy was well cared for and, most importantly, happy.
On our first visit, we were able to meet with Esther and Darcy to ask questions and see the “pupkins”, as they call them. Esther took particular care to answer all of our questions and ask some of her own to get to know us better. On our second visit, we were able to play with the puppies and interact with each. Based on Esther’s experience with the puppy personalities, the questionnaire answers and our interaction with the dogs, a forever home is then chosen for each of the puppies. We were not disappointed with the choice.
Esther and Darcy also go a step further and begin crate training and house training these little puppies. Lizzie was lucky enough to have a large litter of eight. Esther and Darcy managed to send eight beautiful puppies home to their new families that were crate trained and for the most part house trained. They did most of the hard work for us.
Our “Ellie” came to us adorable (of course), healthy, happy and well trained for an eight week puppy. On our first night, Ellie went to her crate at 11:00 and slept through the night until 6:30 a.m. From our past experience that has never been the case. Each puppy came home micro chipped, groomed with collars, beds, two weeks of food, detailed written instructions/suggestions and all necessary paperwork. Unbelievably, the process did not stop on the day Ellie came home. We are in regular contact with Esther who is always available for advice and suggestions.
Esther and Darcy certainly set the standards much higher for any other breeder and I would challenge anyone to find better. We cannot thank them enough for all their hard work and love for their wonderful animals.
